Don’t let the picture fool you. It took quite a bit of effort to get this kid to pretend to be happy about being strapped to a chair. But as anyone with a toddler knows, feeding a kid this age who is free to roam about is asking for a huge mess. Sometimes you are on the go and need a way to keep your kiddo still during feeding time, and this is a quick and easy and very portable way to do so. I found this project at This Mama Makes Stuff.
We have so many fun fabrics for kids. Come on over and check them out!

I had more than enough with 1 yard of each fabric. This project calls for 2″ wide Velcro. I used what I had on hand and place two pieces side by side.
Also, the project recommends quilted fabric for your main fabric. You can easily make your own quilted fabric (at the cost of a little more time!) by following the instructions below. It’s something most of you sewers already know, but I included it just in case.

No quilted fabric? No problem. Just take your regular fabric and pair it with a piece of batting.

Get out your walking foot, which helps keep the layers from shifting. See more on how to use a walking foot here. |

I chose to stitch along the stripes. I stitched along each stripe on both of my outer pieces of fabric. |

And now I have quilted fabric. Proceed with the rest of the tutorial on this portable “high chair.” |
