Fabric baskets

I love organizing. Little baskets and totes let me keep things separate, from my knitting and sewing projects to my son’s toys. I have been wanting to make fabric storage totes for some time, but most of the time patterns have you finish the raw seams with bias tape, and I just HATE doing that. It always comes out ugly, for me. I fell in love with these little baskets, in part because of the rick rack. The only complaint I have is that with these handles, you have to carry them with both hands. It might be nice to have the handles on the long side so you can grab them both with one hand.
I found this project at one of my favorite sewing sites, Sew4Home.com.

Craft Fuse interfacing

Batting
I had 1 yard of the paisley fabric and half a yard of the polka dot fabric. I had plenty left over after making a large and a small basket. I recommend a 1-1/4 yard of Craft Fuse interfacing. I had 1 yard and had to piece on a little scrap because it wasn’t quite enough for both baskets. For the batting, I used up scraps in my stash. The rick rack was a fun touch! I used one package total.
