Vinyl upholstery fabric is a durable and waterproof leather look material that can be found in assorted textures, weights, and colors. Flannel backed vinyl material is a water proof vinyl on the top side while the reverse side features a flannel backing that helps stablize your vinyl and prevent it from sliding around. A few popular home uses of our flannel backed vinyl fabrics include vinyl tablecloths that are thicker than basic oilcloth, assorted crafts such as purses and totes, and furniture upholstery such as bar stools, dining room chairs, ottomans, padded headboards, benches, etc. Expanded vinyl, such as marine vinyl, is a commercial grade vinyl fabric that offers more durability and flexibility than the regular flannel back vinyl. If you are looking for a longer lasting and/or more weather resistant vinyl for heavy wear projects such as outdoor awnings, auto upholstery, or boat seat covers, you should opt for expanded vinyl.
