A tiny tote for a tot

	This is a fun little boxy tote that a small child can haul his or her delights around in. It’s fully lined and utilizes a purse zipper. Switch up the fabric to make it feminine for a little girl — or even for a woman to use for cosmetics and the like.
	My son likes to take his cars around everywhere he goes, but he’s still just a little guy and can’t carry anything too big. He also doesn’t quite get the idea of a shoulder strap or backpack, so these little straps work well for him. And, yes, his hair is out of control. And, no, he wouldn’t let me comb it. How to stitch with a twin needle

How would you like two rows of stitching set perfectly apart? Have you ever tried a twin needle? It’s two-two-two needles in one! And don’t you worry, it’s not tricky.Twin needles are great for decorative touches like pintucking or topstitching, and they are used often with knits but can be used on woven fabrics as well.Just as with regular needles, look for a needle of the proper size for your fabric. There is a number at the bottom of the package that looks something like 4.0/75. The first number is the distance between the needles (how far apart do you want your parallel lines?), and the second number is the size of the needle. Adding grommets to curtains

Grommets are one way to hang curtains. I really like how they look, the simplicity of using them, and how they create such nice folds with ease.These plastic grommets are incredibly quick and easy. Making lined / interlined curtains Part 2

Last week, we started with Part 1 of this tutorial: measuring, cutting and hanging the rod. This week, we’ll continue with the sewing part of the project.I decided to remake the curtains in my son’s room because last time I made them way too narrow, and although they covered the window, they didn’t hang nicely. I also lined them with the same fabric I used for the front – a solid brown – and wanted to use a proper black-out lining this time. I also added interlining, which makes them hang nicer. The interlining is optional. It’s most useful on a thinner fabric, but it’s got great insulating properties and I decided to demonstrate it on these even though they are a heavier fabric.
